Relievus Medical Marijuana Program PA

Signed in law by Governor Tom Wolf, Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Program (MMP) has become effective on April 17, 2016. This program is intended to safely deliver the medical marijuana to the patients with serious symptoms.
We are happy to announce that Relievus doctors are certified to participate in PA MMP. Below are some information and guide regarding the PA Medical Marijuana Program.

Who are eligible for Medical Marijuana?

A person must be diagnosed with a serious condition to be considered eligible. Some of the following are considered serious conditions under the Pennsylvania Act:
- Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
- Damage to the nervous tissue of the spinal cord with objective neurological indication of intractable spasticity
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Neuropathies
-Post-traumatic Stress Disorder
- Severe chronic or intractable pain of neuropathic origin or severe chronic or intractable pain in which conventional therapeutic intervention and opiate therapy is contraindicated or ineffective
Additionally, MMP patients are eligible for caregiver, who are designated by the patients to help them. Patients who are under 18 are required to have a legal guardian as the caregiver.

A caregiver is the person who assists the patients through the MMP. Caregivers generally assist the patients through the MMP process, which includes obtaining and distributing the medical marijuana to the designated patient. Person who is eligible for caregiver must register in the Patient and Caregiver registry and is limited to maximum of 5 patients.

Registration Procedures for MMP

Patients need to first register from Patients and Caregiver Registry in addition to get a physician’s approval that he is suffering from the serious conditions. After the registration and payment, medical marijuana ID is issued, which can be used to obtain medical marijuana from the approved dispensaries in PA locations. To become a caregiver, he must also register from the registry and go through the background check. After this person pays for the ID, he is eligible to act as the caregiver for a designated patient.
